If I’m going to fly around with a jetpack, I guess I’ll be needing a flight suit, right?
In June 2018 I put in an order for a flight suit, pouches, a vest and a neck seal. The tailor told me which measurement she needed, and was helpful in explaining how to measure them. But you really need an extra set of hands for some of the measurements, so I did have some help. It was a bit awkward, but we managed.
Please note my beautiful self-portrait:
(I actually had to order another neck seal later because I messed up my measurements.)
This was the first time I had garments made specially for me. The helmet and armor may look cool and all, but I now own a tailor-made flight suit!
When it came to weathering the suit, I used a wet-on-wet technique. I first moistened the suit, and then sprayed on paint before letting it all dry. And then I repeated the process.
The weathering took three days. You have to let it dry to see how the color turns out, and you should build layer upon layer to get the best look. It will go quicker if you have a drying cabinet or a heating fan, but I had neither so I had to let it air dry.
