Halloween At St. Olavs Hospital

Costume: Stormtrooper

Troopers from Norwegian Garrison and cadets from the Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy visited the children’s ward at St. Olavs Hospital on Halloween. We spoke with the kids, gave out candy and posed for pictures with them.

I’ve wanted to attend this event for years, but I’ve not been able to until now. It is one of the most meaningful event we do, and I’m glad I’ve finally was a part of it myself.

The trip down to Trondheim didn’t go smooth. My plan was to take the night train down, spending the whole day in the city, maybe do some christmas shopping before the Halloween event, and then take the night train home again.

But a few days ago there was a tragic accident just south of where I live. A landslide caused a train to derail. All trains was cancelled indefinitely. The area was deemed unsafe, so the highway was also closed. And the awful weather this time of year have closed both detour roads several times since then, so car travel was also not an option.

I chose to go by plane. This meant I had less time in the city before the event and I was in a hurry after the event. Both planes was almost cancelled or delayed due to the weather, so to say that this was a stressful trip is an understatement.
